      Everyone has heard of Nordstrom’s and their famous customer service - can you define it?


   The dictionary defines it as:

     assistance and other resources that a company provides to the people who buy or use its products or services.


   That seems rather vague - these days it is important to define YOUR definition of customer service for your business.  You can say you have great, exceptional, excellent, etc. customer service, but as any writing instructor will tell you, the cardinal rule is  SHOW, DON”T TELL!!


     Here are some ways to create good customer service:

  1.   Easily identifiable staff

  2.    Easy to find what they need

  3.    Easy to pay for it

  4.    Do the unexpected


     If you don’t take care of your customers, somebody else is ready, willing and able to do it.  Your competitive edge over the competition is how you treat your customers and your relationship you have with them.  This is even more important in a downturn economy.

   Everyone can make a difference and create meaningful memories for their customers that will motivate them to come back.  How?  Put your personal signature on the job.  Think of something special you can do to make them feel special - a memory that will make them want to keep coming back to you. 

       It’s about creating memories, building relationships, using your unique gifts and caring for people.  You want to create raving fans who are so excited about the way you treat them, they want to tell stories about you to everyone they know and become part of your sales force.
